how to be aware of negative influences

we are so easily influenced. we are constantly being impressed and what is impressed must be expressed. we pick up on other people's personalities, as empaths, it is easy to morph into people we spend time with. this could be people in person or people via the internet, tv, radio, etc. ⁣

  1. take note: who are you around? who do you spend a lot of time with? remember these people can be people you don’t know. with the internet being so accessible and the lives of people being so open, it is important to take note of who is in your life and who you’re allowing into your precious psyche. ⁣

  2. discern: which influences help you feel good and which lead you to feel less than, unworthy, angry, frustrated, and upset. for example, if you are watching the news, take a look at whether or not you are actually benefiting from it. it is common that the only reason you watch it is that you are so used to it, but if you pay close attention all it does is stir up more feelings of fear. how about that podcast you listen to? Is it drama-filled or does it add to your life? a great way to tell is when you are done listening to something or spending time with someone, do you feel pumped up and ready to do something great or do you feel irritated, agitated, tired, afraid, etc?⁣

  3. replace: now all those people you spend time with, literally or figuratively - that don’t make you more excited about life - it is time to swap them out with people who do. start spending time with people (if you can’t find people around you there are plenty online) who live lives of integrity. people who inspire you and make you want to become better. the less influenced you are by negative forces, the easier it will be to live in alignment with your own truth. ⁣

  4. alone time: when you spend time completely alone, you are granted access to your deepest thoughts and beliefs. you get an inside look at yourself. what you believe and what you want to share with the world. if you are always taking in information, the mind can get overwhelmed. you have to take time for yourself daily, to be in complete silence. during this time you can contemplate the deeper questions in life like, who am i? how do i want to serve? what am i afraid of? this time for yourself is crucial. it will bring you closer to yourself. ⁣

most of the time, we don’t know who we are because we haven’t actually taken the time to ask the simple question - who am i? most of the time we don’t know what is truly possible for us because we spend our time - either with or looking up to - people who thrive off of our fear and lack of self-esteem.

then we take on these traits and wonder why our lives aren’t moving forward. pay attention to what is being projected at you. pay attention to the messages the people you spend time with are sending out.

are they messages of “anything is possible and you can do whatever you want” or a message of “you aren’t worthy, stay stuck.” you’d be surprised how many people emit the later. and these messages aren’t communicated verbally but rather, energetically. ⁣

discernment is key.
