lifehack: create a ritual that connects you to yourself and the present moment

the future IS now. this is the moment that creates the next. and if i can’t be present in the now than i can’t create anything. ⁣

this is huge. ⁣

writing for me is a tool to bring me into the now. that is why i have challenged myself to do it daily. it is my way to ground myself, to feel into myself. to go within myself and discover what i am feeling in the moment. it is my way of saying i am here to myself. ⁣

we need this. whether it is meditation, taking a walk, going to the gym, playing a game, drawing, making music, whatever form it comes in.

we need something that allows us to meet our innermost feelings. to meet ourselves. we need to see how we are doing, what we are feeling and what is happening in our minds. we need a space where we feel free to just feel. ⁣

this writing challenge has been bigger than me. there are so many days when i don’t feel like doing it. sometimes i don’t write for a couple of days and it irks me. i get annoyed with myself: like, why i am i not able to write? it’s like everything that i try to write sounds fabricated. like something i think i am supposed to say. and then i have to remind myself, that i didn’t start this for any other reason than to see more of myself. ⁣

and it is showing me myself. ⁣

because more often than not, it is the days that i don’t want to write that i am most disconnected from myself and it is because of these days that i understand more of myself. ⁣

but it just makes me think about all the years i spent not being present in the moment. always searching outside of myself to be seen and to be accepted. writing has become my way of doing that for myself. my way of showing up. and even when i miss a day or two it just shows me that there is something i am choosing to not look at. ⁣

and when i am ready, i look at it. ⁣

self-awareness is so beautiful. when you see yourself, it isn’t about being perfect anymore. it’s more so about acceptance. every flaw you find in your thinking, helps you recognize more of your own humanity. how fragile you really are. this is what allows you to love yourself more. ⁣

self-love is not about perfecting yourself. it is about seeing yourself. and in order to truly see yourself, you must be willing to see all of yourself. ⁣

find something that gives you permission to be with yourself daily. it doesn’t have to look like writing or meditating, there are so many ways we can connect with ourselves. but whatever it is, make it a daily ritual. ⁣

make it something that excites your soul but challenges your ego.

you will thank yourself because you will see more of yourself than ever before. ⁣

and the more you see yourself, the more compassion you will develop for yourself and in turn, all of humanity.
